DIY:: SOY Candles!

Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!


Sorry, I've been away...been busy with the holidays, but hopefully you've seen my latest video. I ended up making soy candles for a lot of friends and family as Christmas gifts. But, really they make great gifts for anytime of year.


As promised on my channel, I told you I would list what you would need here on my blog...so here's what you will need:


Soy Wax -- http://www.candlescience.com/wax/golden-brands-464-soy-wax This is a 10lb. bag and should be plenty to make fifteen candles. The wax at Hobby Lobby (which is what I used) is sold in 2 lb. packs for $9.99 each.


Candle Wicks -- http://shop.hobbylobby.com/store/item.aspx?ItemId=189975 Just get the ones already put together. They make some specifically for soy wax. If you can find those I think they’ll work better. I saw some at Michael’s. If not just get ones that are long enough for however tall your candle will be. If you get these, you’ll need two packs. ($2.69 each)


Candle Fragrance -- http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/crafty-candles-fragrance-liquid-405886/ They have this brand there, but also other stuff with the soap/lotion making supplies which is where I found the Love Spell scent ($5.99 But, the others are $2.99 each.) You can also find high quality fragrance oils online!


Craft Glue Dots -- http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/craft-glue-dots-804898/ You don’t have to get this. But, you need some way to secure the wick to the bottom of the container. So, this works pretty well. ($3.99)


Containers – Purchase them at the Dollar Tree it’s the cheapest you’ll find. $1/each for whatever shape you want.


Candle Dye - Can use either liquid dye or the concentrated dye blocks like I used. Which were about ($5.99 for four colors that you can use to make lots of different colors)

finals week!

I'm working on some great ideas for holiday gift giving...DIY inspired,of course..and I will try to get them up as quickly as possible! However, these next few days are going to be a little CrAzY because it's finals week at UF! *GO GATORS!* Almost done with my next to last semester, and it can't come soon enough.

DIY:: Leopard Print Nails

Hello,

Another week, another tutorial. I decided to show everyone DIY leopard print nails just because pretty much every time I wear this manicure it gets complimented. And who doesn't love that? ;)



This is an idea of what it will look like when you are finished! It really is pretty simple to achieve even if you think you aren't that great at painting your own nails. In fact, at one point in my life I couldn't even paint my right hand on my own.

LIP SCRUB!

Hello,

I finally got a new video recorded and edited and I think it's completely appropriate with the cooler weather rolling in. I decided to film my own take on a DIY lip scrub. Sure, there are tons on Youtube already, butttttt...it's just what I wanted to do.

You guys are (as always) welcome to request videos that you would be interested in.

Anyway, with the cool weather settling in I know that personally I always seem to get really dry lips and no matter how often I keep lip balm on them they still get dry! :(

So, this lip scrub if used a couple times a week should help you keep your lips nice and soft into the winter! It has lots of yummy and natural ingredients sure to make your pout is perfect...including sugars, honey, and olive oil!

Creepy Doll Tutorial

So, the first tutorial that I'm going to be covering for Halloween is a creepy doll tutorial! :)

I am editing the film and hopefully will have it up this week. I need to add the costume part to the video and then it will be complete. Here are some sneak peek pictures of the look. It's REALLY easy and definitely something anyone can pull off for an awesome Halloween look.

It's so great to see all the new subscribers! Cutting to the chase, I originally had not planned to do any sort of make-up tutorials on my channel. However, I feel like I MUST make an exception for HALLOWEEN because it is by far my favorite holiday! ever!!!!

DIY TIE DYE YOUR NAILS!

FINALLY,..thanks to the University of Florida wireless internet...I have managed to get another video uploaded.

This tutorial will teach you everything you need to know about tie-dyeing your nails. Some people call it water marbling...but TIE DYE sounds cooler...in my opinion. Haha.

Quick List of THINGS YOU'LL NEED::
2 OR MORE nail polish colors.. You'll have to try out your polishes because not all work equally as well. Like I state in the video, I think it's best to stay away from glitter polish and quick dry polishes.
Tape..whatever is cheap and STICKS.
Toothpicks
Plastic cup filled almost to the top with water

I used Sinful Colors nailpolish in Midnight Blue and an OPI mini in a light pastel purple..unsure of the color name. But, I achieved the look below with those two:

Troubles Uploading

Hello friends,

I have been having a really hard time uploading my videos. I have my July Faves and a new video reviewing the *new* Bareminerals insider kit. Hopefully, I can get them uploaded this week. I haven't forgotten about you. I promise. There is just a lot of exciting things going on in my life right now :)

Today was my first day back at UF. I'm currently posting from Campus as we speak via iPhone before my next class. My headband / accessories business site should be up soon and I've been working on a lot of products that I cannot wait to share with you!!

Well, hello.

Right now, school is still really keeping me busy. I'm in Orlando tonight until Tuesday. ::yawn:: I should be getting to sleep soon. But, I just wanted to let you know that I've started making YOUTUBE videos. They are going to be crafty, girly and full of fun stuff. Not sure where I'm really headed with it.

However, it's kind of in addition to my recent decision to start a small business making crafty things...starting with headbands and hair accessories.

Update -- Summer 2k11

Well,

Summer is in full force here in Florida. It is H-O-T..HOT! But, whatever. It's Florida. Anyway, my internship in Orlando is going quite well. Never in my life did I even have the slightest clue about all that goes into the production of a magazine. BUSY, BUT....amazing.


Jessica is only here for a few more weeks. Which makes me totally sad. :(

In other news,...I think I'm starting a business. No,...I'm starting a business.

And, that makes life complicated. So, much to think about if you want to be legal about everything. Taxes. Blah. Production. Fun, but a lot of work.

I still don't know what to call it. But, I plan on making really cute, vintage-inspired headbands and hairclips. Eventually, one day I hope to move on to designing other things...like invitations or cards...or I'm not really sure sky's the limit.

Anyway, that's about all I've got for now, I'm also taking two summer classes and I should probably get to work on that. Not probably. I should.

Good Morning, Orlando!

Well, I'm on to Day 6 of my internship at Orlando Style Magazine. I've been staying with my BFF Jessica while she is here in Orlando as well because she is going to Joe Blasco makeup school.

So far, I've learned a lot from my time there and I can't wait for the June issue to come out because I've actually help participate with it. :)

I just wanted to give a little update.

I've got some exciting things happening this summer and I'll be sharing them with you as they happen.

its already mid august?

i leave for Minnesota in exactly three days! i couldn't be more excited to see my family. we're going to have so much fun.

last weekend, i went to the SJTA jewelry show in atlanta. and, i had a BLAST. there was so much to learn. we (miriam and i) attended seminars and looked around at different booths. pretty cool.



we met these lovely people at the cheesecake factory....and i'm pretty sure we didn't stop laughing until we left.

my mom took makenzie to the vet today while i was working because her eye looked a little red. and COME TO FIND OUT, she could have an infection or even possibly something stuck in her cornea. i really hope its not the latter. she's going to be on antibiotics for 10 days and then...we'll go from there. i'll keep you updated.

day 2 of smooth module

well, hello.

i'm getting ready to take an online quiz for my marketing class. but, i thought i'd throw a little blurb on here first. (easy for me to put off school work, hah!)

yesterday, after class i went to SW Rec and i was pretty proud of myself for doing 40 minutes on the bike and cranking out 10 miles! after i get off today i plan on going to the gym again.

i ended up making a "B" on my last marketing test, which makes me REALLY happy. i don't have to go into work until 11, but it will probably be a long day bc our merch. rep. for PANDORA is coming back to help us set up the rest of the product.

intake:
breakfast
1 cup coffee
1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese (*snack)
lunch
4 oz. carolina burger
2 small cookies
afternoon snack
salad with house vinegarette
dinner



that's it so far. the smooth module actually allows you to have "fun" food. so, i may have a small cheeseburger for lunch. it's really important to keep up on the exercise during this module since you're allowing yourself higher calorie foods.
